COR Sandbox Project
23.06.2026. Funded by Safe Online, COR: Sandboxing and Standardizing Child Online Redress, is a project that proposes the first-of-its kind regulatory sandbox for online safety. COR focuses on the issue of child online redress which is viewed as a catalyst for minimizing and responding to online harms; their mission is
To improve young people’s experiences online by bringing together all stakeholders – regulators, businesses, experts and youth – to co-design and test age-appropriate response and redress mechanisms for addressing online harms.
The project takes an outcome based, cooperative approach to policy development and service design proposing “safety co-design” premised on cross-sector, cross-border and cross-generation collaboration as an actionable response to calls for safety by design and the upholding of children’s rights at the design stage of digital services.
The projects key objectives include:
- The development of a Sandbox blueprint for future regulatory sandboxes for child online safety and regulatory compliance and;
- The development of a governance standard for child online redress.
The UCD Centre for Digital Policy is represented in this project by Prof. Eugenia Siapera, Dr Tijana Milosevic, and Dr Ioanna Noula who acts as the projects’ scientific coordintor. The project is led by The Smile of the Child – Greece’s premier child welfare organization – and consortium members include ISPCC, the Young and Resilient Research Centre (Western Sydney University) and Child Helpline International.
