Event: Book Launch

25.09.2025. On 15 October 2025, we will officially launch two publications from several our centre members and colleagues at the UCD Humanities Institute.

Platforming Cancel Culture: Digital Media, Identity and Cultural Intersections is an edited collected from Dr Páraic Kerrigan, Dr Elizabeth Farries and Prof Eugenia Siapera and included contributions from UCD ISchool PhD Candidate, Christo Jacob and UCD School of Geography social scientist, Dean Phealan. The collection “ delves into one of the most polarizing phenomena of the digital age. Bringing together global, intersectional, and interdisciplinary perspectives, this edited collection unpacks the evolving dynamics of cancel culture, examining its practices and implications across diverse political and cultural landscapes.”

We also celebrate the release of Patrick Bresnihan and Patrick Brodie’s From the Bog to the Cloud: Dependency and Eco-Modernity in Ireland, which queries the green digital transition, asking “what does this transition look like when dictated by the energy and resource demands of monopoly tech? How has this situation come to be? And where is it being resisted?”

The book launch will begin with a discussion of the materials from authors and editors, followed by what is sure to be a lively Q&A and a wine reception to close off the evening.

RSVP available via the QR code or email.
