Alessa Eggeling is a PhD student at the School for Information and Communication Studies at UCD. Under the supervision of Assoc Prof Ariadna Matamoros-Fernandez, she is researching the implementation of the Digital Services Act (DSA) in the context of gendered harms. She holds a Master’s degree in Media Culture and Globalisation from the University of Bremen, Germany, where she also worked as a student assistant at the Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI) at the Lab for Platform Governance. Alessa is interested in the conditions of political participation and communication in the digital age, and her research centres around platform studies, disinformation, and online harms.
