Dr. Mariangela Veikou is a sociologist and interdisciplinary researcher specialising in social inequalities, migration, citizenship, and the societal implications of digitalisation and automation. She has held research and teaching positions at Tilburg University, the University of Twente, the University of Amsterdam, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the European University Institute, and the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS/KNAW). Her research examines the intersections of governance, digital technologies, migration, and diversity through the lenses of critical theory, qualitative methodology and ethnography. She has led and contributed to numerous research projects funded by the European Commission, NIAS/KNAW, the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), and other national and international funding bodies. Her publications include Automating Migration and Citizenship: Surveillance, Control and Critique (Palgrave, 2026, co-edited with Eugenia Siapera), and The Place of Ethnic Identity. Migration, Performativity and Ethnicised Bodies (forthcoming, Palgrave). Beyond academia, she has served as Chair of the Greek Asylum Appeals Committees and is committed to engaged scholarship that promotes more equitable and inclusive societies.
