The WEIRD governance of fact-checking and the politics of content moderation

November 2023. Centre Team Member Marco Bastos and his PhD student Otàvio Vinhas have authorered an article in New Media & Society on the governance of fact-checking and the politics of content moderation, based on interviews with factcheckers operating in non-WEIRD countries. They have found that fact-checkers have to manage the expectations of partisan social media users.
